Naptime Blog Update

Since my son was born this summer I’ve found it difficult to find time for anything that doesn’t revolve around him, my wife, my dog, my 9-5, or the mountain of bottles I need to wash that seems to never disappear next to my sink.

For the past 6 ½ years I’ve been living separate lives from my home/office lives through my various blogs and online platforms. It’s disheartening to see my projects grow cobwebs.

After some self-reflection while a 17lb tiny human slept on my chest I realized I’m letting perfection and the size of what I want to create get in the way. In my mind I want everything I create to be near flawless and be of substantial length.

My brain before: “A 200-word blog post…why even bother? Let’s scroll through Instagram instead.”

My brain now: “A 200-word blog post…that’s better than a 0-word blog post! Let’s get going, man.”

Since my drastic career change from video editor to video producer (I can expand more on why it’s been so drastic another day) and since my kiddo came into this world, my content output has been minuscule compared to my content input — thanks, Disney+. This is frustrating for someone who is used to constantly creating a high volume of stuff.

So, with that being said, I’d like to give you fair warning to expect some shorter, not-so-perfect blog posts from me for awhile until I get back on my feet and have more than fractions of naptimes to get my writing in.

I hope you’re doing well.
